GRACIE JIU-JITSU PROGRAMS in Norfolk, Virginia
Norfolk Karate Academy/Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Norfolk was the first school in the nation certified by the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy to offer its proprietary self-defense programs. Today, Hampton Roads boasts four certified training centers - one each in Norfolk, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake. CTC Norfolk offers the following programs:
GRACIE COMBATIVES
This is the introductory adult Gracie jiu-jitsu program designed to prepare a student to defend themselves in a street fight as quickly as possible.
THE MASTER CYCLE
The Master Cycle takes Gracie Combatives graduates the rest of the way to jiu-jitsu mastery.
WOMEN EMPOWERED
Women Empowered is a specialized Gracie jiu-jitsu course tailored for defense against sexual assault.
GRACIE BULLYPROOF
This is the introductory Gracie jiu-jitsu program for children. First, Gracie Bullyproof teaches how to respond to physical aggression to give a child the confidence that only comes from knowing that the bully can't harm them. Then, the course teaches how to use words to verbally defuse the situation.
JUNIOR COMBATIVES
Junior Combatives is the children's version of the full adult curriculum. Graduates of the Junior Combatives program are eligible for selection to participate in the adult classes.
GRACIE UNIVERSITY
All students are automatically enrolled in the Gracie Certified Training Center Family Membership program. This enables access to Gracie University online lessons and attendance at any CTC in the world for up to one week at no cost.

GRACIE JIU-JITSU SEMINARS
Norfolk Karate Academy / Gracie Jiu Jitsu Norfolk hosts seminars conducted by the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy throughout the year. The content of the sessions varies based on our needs and the level of experience of the seminar participants. The cost for Norfolk Karate Academy / Gracie Jiu Jitsu Norfolk students and Gracie University students is $50-75 per session. Registration is on a first come-first served basis, so reserve your spot early!
GRACIE SURVIVAL TACTICS INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION®
NORFOLK KARATE ACADEMY / GRACIE JIU-JITSU NORFOLK HOSTS THE COURSE ANNUALLY IN JULY.
The Gracie Survival Tactics® for Military and Law Enforcement (GST) Instructor Certification Course is the most influential Defensive Tactics Program of all time. GST focuses on weapon retention and uses leverage and technique over strength and size. The simple techniques are proven effective in the real world.
Requirements
You must be an active Law Enforcement Officer (Police Officer, Federal Agent or Corrections Officer) or active duty military. Prior martial arts experience is not required to learn and apply. Student will gain confidence in closing with a suspect (arrest and control) as well as using restraint first and lethal force as a last option. A GST Certified Instructor has the benefit of having Rorion Gracie available to them, their students or organization, as an expert witness in excessive force law suits.
Overview of Gracie Survival Tactics® for Military and Law Enforcement (GST)
Training is 5 days, at 6 hours per day, for a total of 30 hours. Students will learn approximately 30 stand up and ground-fighting techniques and how to apply these techniques in the most common threat scenarios in the field, as well as teach these techniques to others.
